How to make a LAN cable

Here is one good quality video on how to make yourself a network cable. It's very practical and I hope you'll enjoy it!

and another one on network cable installation

Few quick tricks:

1. Work slow and be precise in order not to cut or erode the small wires, because if they contact to each other the signal will fail.

2. Leave small part of the shield to go under the clipping point. This way when you do crimp the cable shield will strengthen the whole manual connection.

3. If you don't have an automatic tester, you could test the cable:

3.1. with the ping command from command prompt and see if there are lot of lost/unreceived packets. If this happens and you are sure of your software connection(i.e. don't have conflicting IP addresses or firewall blocking your ping(ICMP) traffic) you'll have to redo the procedure.

3.2. simply by checking all of the small wires connectivity on both ends: for example orange should contact with orange and no other wire. Do this test for all the remaining cables. by Nevyan Neykov
